We routinely sell out on cruise ship days so we recommend booking in advance.
You will want at least a half day rental to make the most of your rental and see as much of Acadia as you can. There are lots of places to stop and explore. Stopping for pictures also allows the batteries to level out, which helps extend the range. The Park Loop Road is almost entirely one-way and is posted at 25MPH. It is very relaxing and beautiful.
We operate a free shuttle from the tender facility to our garage.
We have had very positive feedback from our guests that have mobility issues. Our GEM's are very low to the ground and easy to get in and out of.
The GEM vehicle is very simple, and fun, to drive.
You can drive the entire loop road in just over an hour if you like. We recommend taking more time to stop at all of the vista's, but even getting a quick taste of Acadia is better than none. If you are concerned about getting back to your tender we can assure you that thousands of cruise passengers have enjoyed Acadia in one of our vehicles and returned in plenty of time. We do offer a standard mini-van shuttle as well.
If you drive around the Park Loop Road and want to come back to Bar Harbor for lunch you can park at the GEM garage and hook up to one of our fast chargers while you shop or have lunch. The public streets and lots are metered and our GEM's are VERY easy to park in any regular parking space.
We understand that the tender schedule isn’t always exact. If you book a time and are running late we will hold your reservation until you arrive.
We also understand that cruise ships can cancel last minuet due to weather or other reasons. If this happens we will waive any cancelation fees.
